Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has grown into one of India’s most reliable and friendly travel hubs. When it opened back in 2008 in Devanahalli, people didn’t imagine how quickly it would turn into a busy airport connecting millions of travelers every year. Today, it offers direct flights to more than 100 destinations around 72 within India and 28 abroad. Whether someone wants to fly to Delhi, Kochi, Jaipur, London, San Francisco, Paris, Sydney, Dubai, Singapore or Hong Kong, Bengaluru makes it possible without unnecessary stops.
Inside, the airport feels calm and refreshing. Terminal 2 almost looks like a garden, with plants, warm sunlight and peaceful corners where people can sit without feeling rushed. Check-in and security usually move smoothly, and this makes the whole atmosphere relaxed, even on busy travel days.
Travelers Feel at Home

Many travelers have their own stories here. Take Venkatesh Reddy, a business-class consultant who flies to London almost every week. He actually comes early by choice not because he has to. For him, the lounge at Bengaluru Airport is a small break before work. Sitting with a hot cup of coffee, he often says, “I start my journey calmly here. It feels like a short holiday before the meetings begin.”
Families also feel comfortable. Sakshi Jain and Harish Jain, travelling with their children Chanchal and Mihir, say the airport makes their trips easier. Tara enjoys watching planes take off through the tall glass windows, and Mihir loves the children’s play area. “Earlier, travel days used to make us tense,” Anjali says. “But here, everything feels organized. We start our trips with a peaceful mind.
Things the Crew Loves About Bengaluru Airport
The crew that flies in and out every day also feel the difference. Captain Shail Malhotra, they also handle international routes, says landing in Bengaluru always feels smooth. “The ground crew and ATC here work in sync,” he explains. “There’s a calmness that’s rare in other airports.”
Air hostess Erica Fernandes feels the same. She loves walking through Terminal 2 between her flights. “It feels like a nature walk,” she says. “Crew check-in takes minutes, and I always find time to grab a dosa or take photos near the greenery.”
Easy and Smooth Transits

Bengaluru Airport makes transit very simple. People catching connecting flights move quickly because the directions are clear and the crew guide them well. Even the airport is busy, shifting from one gate to another doesn’t take much time.
Comfortable and Modern Business-Class Lounges
The business-class lounges add extra comfort for travelers. They have soft chairs, calm spaces to work, fast Wi-Fi and plenty of snacks and drinks. Some lounges also offer showers and charging spots, so passengers can rest or freshen up before their next flight. This makes long trips feel much easier and more relaxing.
Food, Cafés and Shopping for Everyone

The airport is full of places to eat and shop. With over 150 outlets, travelers can choose from cafés and restaurants like Barley & Grapes Café, Windmill Craftworks, Café Coffee Day, Krispy Kreme, Tiffin Express, La Alta Vita and Subway. Shops like Duty- free, Fab-India and Hi-design let people browse clothes, accessories and handicrafts while waiting for their flights.
Many Bengaluru residents even visit the airport without any travel plans. One of them is Ritvik Sharma, for him, weekend evenings at the airport have become a small tradition with his friends. He likes relaxing at Mitti Special Chai it feels like a quiet getaway, he says “Good food, fresh air, a clean place and no chaos it’s perfect at late nights”. That peaceful atmosphere keeps bringing him back again and again.
The airport is also pet-friendly, offering special support to passengers travelling with animals. Small touches like these make the place feel welcoming and modern.
A Major Hub for Flights and Cargo

Airlines run many flights here, making it easy for people to travel for work, study, holidays or family visits. Bengaluru is also a business and tech hub, so the airport handles huge amounts of cargo more than 550,000 metric tones every year helping companies ship products quickly across the world.
Over the years, the airport has collected several awards for its design, sustainability, cleanliness and passenger experience. Terminal 2 especially has earned praise for its green, eco-friendly look.
The airport doesn’t just help travelers it helps Karnataka’s tourism too. Places like Mysuru, Coorg, Hampi, Gokarna, Chikkamagaluru and Bengaluru itself see more visitors because travel has become easier. This supports local shops, guides, hotels and businesses, helping the state’s economy grow.
Bengaluru Became India’s Most Connected Airport

Bengaluru Airport became India’s most connected hub because the city brings in a large flow of tech workers, business travelers, and tourists. The airport keeps adding new routes, linking big cities and many smaller ones. Its modern terminals and smooth check-in process make passengers and airlines prefer it. With the second runway and Terminal 2, the airport can handle far more flights than before.
With Bengaluru’s fast-growing population and tech sector, passenger numbers are rising every year. To prepare for the future, plans for a second major airport are already underway. This will reduce pressure on the current one and make sure the city can handle the next few decades of travel smoothly.
A Warm, Global Gateway

Today, Kempegowda International Airport is more than just an entry point to Bengaluru. It has become a warm, thoughtfully designed space filled with real stories, helpful people, good food and great connectivity. It stands as a gateway not just to India, but to the world truly living up to its promise of taking travelers to the beyond with an experience.
